Sunday 1st October was the last day of the Paul’s Eyes Of The Storm photographic exhibit at the Nation Portrait Gallery. The show has run from June 28th in London and is due to relocate to the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, Virginia from December 5th to April 7th.

So this Sunday the Revolver team joined a busy throng of attendees to view the popular exhibit providing a photographic insight into the outbreak of Beatlemania through the lens of Paul McCartney in early 1964. The show is divided into rooms depicting the Liverpool, London, Paris, New York, Washington DC and Miami legs of the Beatle journey. The show displays full wall-size prints to original contact sheets and is supplemented by other items of interest from 1964 including, newspapers, magazines, books and lyric sheets. The walls are peppered with a descriptive narrative to the photos giving context and details of the images and also there are video screens showing short films enhancing the view we have of 1964.
I found the exhibit to be really interesting and the photos displayed in surroundings and in a manner that complements the subject very well. Having also enjoyed Paul’s book the exhibit is a completely different experience and I would urge anyone who has the opportunity to see the exhibit as it extends to a tour.
