The summer of ’24 has so far provided some fabulous points of interest for Beatles fans. ‘One Hand Clapping’ in June and ‘Mind Games’ in July, in their variety of release formats, have served a feast of delectables. Which formats have you bought? I imagine sales of UV torches have seen an upturn in recent weeks. The imaginative approach to the packaging / marketing taken by Sean and his team have refreshed many fans opinions of this album. With special thanks to Rob Turner, I was able to join him for a listening preview in the Dolby Atmos preview theatre in London. An incredible immersive experience which allowed a new appreciation for me of what has been an LP in the Lennon canon that is overlooked compared to others.
This month has also seen the last instalment in the EggPod series, the live version at the Opera Holland Park was well attended by the Beatles community and illustrates the appetite for Beatles events in London. Let’s hope that if there is not an annual EggPod event that perhaps something else could fill this space in the calendar.
The Beatles summer will continue in Liverpool for the Beatles Week and the highlight being the convention at the Adephi. With guests this year including Geoff Baker, David Bedford, Ivor Davies, Kevin Harrington, Chris O’Dell, May Pang and Ken Womack we hope for a great event and look forward to catching up with friends old and new.
See you there,
Gwyn.
