The next few months may turn out to be an exciting release period for Beatles fans. More than a rumour following the Variety feature that the remix / box set treatment has been applied to the Revolver sessions and cited for a possible release in October 2022. Further McCartney Archive releases have been hinted at in the Got Back Tour programme and Sometime in New York City has been hiding in the long grass since earlier in the year when it was first hinted at box set treatment. Plus Ringo has another EP release, the third in this series imaginatively titled “EP3”. It is great to have regular releases from Ringo but whether he releases less regularly and issues an album or more often in this EP format is still a contentious matter amongst fans.
This weekend sees the return for many of us to Liverpool Beatles Weekend and I look forward to seeing many of you there. While the events of recent years have certainly had an impact on attendance on the number of fans attending from abroad the essence of the event remains the same and it is still a great opportunity to absorb all things “fab” in the Beatles home city as well as meet up with old friends. See you there!
Later this year [October 7th & 8th 2022] will also provide a welcome opportunity to take in the next theatre presentation by Mark Lewisohn as he reveals the Evolver ’62 show. Telling 62 presentational Beatles stories from the year 1962 with supportive documentation and sound clips from his extensive Beatles archive. This will facilitate the further funding of the Lewisohn research and writing endeavour, and whilst the release of volume 2 of Tune In is still not confirmed this show will provide a welcome dose of the impeccable research and telling of stories that will illuminate yet more areas of the Beatles story languishing in the shadows. The Hornsey Road shows of 2019 were equally entertaining and informative and we should expect nothing less from this show. Revolver will be in attendance.
